The Beginners Guide To Resources (Chapter 1)

Advantages of Biomass Energy Over Other Sources of Energy

One of the technological advancement in energy sources of energy is biomass. Biomass energy results from the conversion of animal and plant organic matter. Biomass energy production emits zero carbon to the environment, therefore, protects the atmosphere from harm than fossil fuel. When biomass is produced with caution it results in zero increase of carbon dioxide in the air as no carbon is released. Another advantage that comes with the use of biomass is prevention of acid rain since it provides minimal sulfur. Therefore, to stop the increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, use carbon neutral sources such as biomass should be encouraged.

There are two methods of biomass conversion namely co-firing and gasification. Cofiring is achieved through direct combustion of biomass in the presence of fuel to generate power. Cofiring is advantageous as compared to gasification as it reduces the amount of carbon dioxide and sulfur oxide emitted. The process of conversion of carbonaceous animal and plant feedstock in high pressure is referred to as gasification. The products of gasification are then converted to energy through a series of steps while using heat exchangers and scrubbers.

Apart from carbon neutrality another benefit that comes with use of biomass is reduced amount of methane produced. The presence of methane in the atmosphere leads to global warming by destroying the ozone layer. Methane that is produced as a result of decomposition of plant and animal organic matter is converted to energy. Biomass production also makes use of the large volume of plant and animal wastes before it is converted to harmful carbon dioxide reducing the need for landfill sites. Raw materials for biomass production can be easily found, and therefore its output is possible in many regions except for the desert areas. Sectors that lack enough natural energy resources can build biomass plants for electricity.
Overwhelmed by the Complexity of Services? This May Help

In comparison with solar and geothermal energy, biomass energy is more reliable. Biomass energy production is possible in many areas since it is independent of sunlight or wind. Company biomass waste can also be converted to energy that can be used in running machinery without relying on an external source reducing the costs of operation.
Finding Similarities Between Businesses and Life

The waste from the plants and animals are taken to the pellet mills to convert them to forms that can be transformed to energy. Good biomass pellet mills is defined by its capability to handle a variety of plant and animal wastes. Biomass pellet mill efficiency and productiveness is determined not only by the size of the debris particle but also the percentage moisture content in the waste product.
